Fr. Athanasius Murphy, O.P.

Fr. Athanasius Murphy was born in West Islip, Long Island, New York. He attended St. Patrick’s parish in Bayshore with his parents Bob and Carla Murphy. Some of his favorite past-times are playing soccer for his high school team and learning to ski race. Fr. Athanasius graduated from Providence College in 2010 where he studied Classics, Humanities, and Philosophy. He worked for a lawyer during his college years, but was intent on entering the Order of Preachers after he graduated college. “I wanted to become, and still want to be, a Dominican friar because I don’t think anything else can make me this happy.”
