A Christmas Thank You

As this year draws to a close, the Dominican Friars pause to give thanks to God for the many blessings he has given.

Fr. John Paul Kern, O.P., offers a word of gratitude on behalf of the friars, recognizing the prayers and support that sustain our common mission. While much of the friars’ work happens quietly and day by day, the fruits of that labor have been especially visible this year.

Over the past months, we celebrated the ordination of seven brothers to the priesthood, welcomed thousands of pilgrims to Washington, DC for the Dominican Rosary Pilgrimage, and saw the Thomistic Institute continue to grow, now present on more than 100 college campuses across the country. At the same time, friars have remained faithfully at work in parishes, classrooms, hospitals, campus ministries, and houses of formation—preaching the Gospel and serving the Church wherever they are sent.

None of this happens without prayer. None of it endures without the generosity of those who believe in the Dominican mission of preaching for the salvation of souls. Your support makes it possible for the friars to study, to preach, to celebrate the sacraments, and to accompany men and women seeking Christ and the truth of the Catholic faith.

As we look ahead to 2025, we entrust the coming year to God, confident that he will bring to completion the good work he has begun. Please know of the friars’ gratitude for you and of our prayers for you and your loved ones.

The Dominican friars are called to preach the Gospel in every age and in every place it is needed. Through preaching, teaching, pastoral ministry, and the formation of new friars, they work to bring the truth of Christ to a world searching for meaning and hope.

Reflections like this one are made possible because of the faithful support of friends like you. Your generosity helps sustain the friars in their mission to proclaim the Gospel, serve the Church, and form future preachers of the faith.

Support the preaching mission of the Dominican friars and help ensure that the light of the Gospel continues to reach hearts for generations to come.
