How do I make a gift of stock or other securities?

Thank you for considering a gift of stock or other securities. To make a gift of stock, please follow the instructions here. You can also designate the Dominican Friars Foundation as the final beneficiary of all or part of your investment accounts. Please contact us directly if you are thinking about donating any other type of security by reaching out to plannedgiving@dominicanfriars.org or calling 646-340-0106.

Can I donate from my IRA?

Thank you for considering making a Qualified Charitable Distribution from your IRA. This is a tax-advantaged way for individuals age 70½ or older to support the Dominican Friars. You can also make a more lasting impact by designating us as the final beneficiary of all or part of your retirement plan or by creating a Charitable Gift Annuity through your IRA. Gifts from your IRA should be discussed with a trusted advisor or tax professional. If you have further questions about donating to us through your IRA, please contact us at plannedgiving@dominicanfriars.org or call 646-340-0106.

What is a Donor Advised Fund and how can I use it to support the Dominican Friars Foundation?

A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a charitable giving tool set up by a donor, but which is managed by a nonprofit organization. Your contributions to a Donor Advised Fund grow tax-free and you may recommend how you want the money to be distributed. To make a more enduring impact, you can also recommend the Dominican Friars Foundation as the final beneficiary of all or part of your DAF.

If you have any further questions, or need help in making a donation through your Donor Advised Fund, please contact us at plannedgiving@dominicanfriars.org or call 646-340-0106.

How do I know if a Charitable Gift Annuity is right for me?

A Charitable Gift Annuity pays you guaranteed income, for life, after your initial donation of $10,000 or more. Often, establishing the annuity can grant the donor an immediate tax benefit, and the rate of guaranteed return may be higher than a CD or money market fund. After your death, the remaining portion of your gift passes directly to the Dominican Friars, avoiding the estate process. An annuity will look different for each donor, depending on your age and your personal tax situation.

The Dominican Friars have been issuing Charitable Gift Annuities for over 80 years, originally as the Deserving Poor Boys Priesthood Association. Since 1932, we have never missed a payment!

To receive more information about establishing a gift annuity with the Friars, please contact us at plannedgiving@dominicanfriars.org or call 646-340-0106.

Will my company match my gift?

Employer matching gift programs are an easy and free way for employees to double the impact of their charitable donations.

Please visit our matching gift website here to discover what programs your company may offer.

If you need further help coordinating a matching gift, please contact us at df@dominicanfriars.org or call 212-744-2410.

How can I leave a gift to the Friars in my Will or Trust?

Thank you for considering aligning your legacy with that of the Dominican Friars by remembering us in your will or trust. Donors who indicate to us that they have remembered us in their estate planning become members of our St. Dominic Legacy Society. Members receive many spiritual benefits such as perpetual remembrance in Masses and the ongoing prayers of the Dominican Friars.
