The Seed of Glory

Each year on August 15th the Church commemorates the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, body and soul, into heavenly glory. On this feast, we both give honor to the Virgin Mary, “crowned this day with surpassing glory” and “exalted above the choirs of Angels,” and praise the God, who, looking on her lowliness, “raised her to this grace” (Vigil Mass of the Assumption).

Preparing us to Live with God

In 1897, the Dominican Friars working on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, in New York City, at the parish of St. Vincent Ferrer, opened a mission on East 68th Street and placed it under the patronage of St. Catherine of Siena, patroness of those who care for the sick.
