ALMA MATER

Catholic University of America

Fr. Reginald Hoefer hails from New Orleans, LA where he was raised a Catholic. He attended Jesuit High School and was an active altar server at St. Patrick’s Parish. As an undergraduate at The Catholic University of America, he met the Dominicans while pursuing a Bachelor’s in Classics and was very taken with the life of the friars and their charism. Prior to entering the Novitiate, Fr. Reginald spent some time in the Management Development Program at Iberia Bank in New Orleans, an experience which helped him to come to understand that his vocation lay with the Order he had grown to know and love during his undergraduate years. “Each time I went to visit the House of Studies, something kept drawing me back — something which I couldn’t pinpoint. Finally at some point I realized that each time I saw a Dominican open his mouth, he began to exude a certain wise understanding about the order of creation, an understanding that was grounded in the peace of Christ and the joy of following Him — and I knew that was exactly what I wanted.”
