Before he became a Dominican friar, Fr. Dominic Legge spent several years as a trial attorney for the United States Department of Justice, having earned his J.D. at Yale Law School.
He entered the Order of Preachers in 2001, where he acquired a licentiate in philosophy from The Catholic University of America, a licentiate in sacred theology from the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception, and a doctorate in sacred theology from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland. He is an Ordinary Member of the Pontifical Academy of St. Thomas Aquinas and the author of The Trinitarian Christology of St. Thomas Aquinas. He directed the Thomistic Institute for seven years, helping to usher it into the apostolate of international reach we see today.
During his installation address at the Dominican House of Studies, he praised the quality of the formation he received there and spoke of the enduring guidance of St. Thomas Aquinas. Discussing the mission and impact of the PFIC, Fr. Dominic pointed his audience to the beginning of the Summa Contra Gentiles: “to speak of God, and to draw others to Him.”
Fr. Albert Duggan, O.P.

As an undergraduate, Fr. Albert Duggan studied biomedical ethics at Brown University, graduating magna cum laude, and then worked in bioethical research.
He entered the Order of Preachers in 2007, and earned his Master of Divinity and Bachelor of Sacred Theology at the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception. His assignments as a priest have included chaplaincy at Johns Hopkins Hospital, campus ministry at his alma mater, Brown University, and service as the Vicar Provincial for Administration for the Province of St. Joseph.
Fr. Albert’s new assignment has moved him across the country to California, where he leads the Dominican School of Philosophy & Theology. He is, in his words, “humbled and honored” to take up the role: “With its strong foundations, the school is poised to become one of the premier centers of philosophical and theological studies on the West Coast. In a changing academic and cultural context, our Dominican intellectual tradition has so much to offer the Church and the world.”
Fr. Thomas Joseph White, O.P.

A native of southeastern Georgia, Fr. Thomas Joseph White converted to the Catholic faith as an undergraduate at Brown University.
After earning his doctorate in theology at the University of Oxford, Fr. Thomas Joseph entered the Order of Preachers in 2003. He taught for many years at the Dominican House of Studies, where he was the founding director of the Thomistic Institute. Fr. Thomas Joseph is a member of the Pontifical Academy of St. Thomas Aquinas and the author of many books on Thomistic Theology and Christology.
Fr. Thomas Joseph now leads the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas, known as the Angelicum, where the young Karol Wojtyła earned his doctorate before he was elected Pope. He sees his appointment as Rector Magnificus as an opportunity to serve the whole Church and to advance the mission of the Order: “to seek the truth, and to communicate with truth, charity, and in the light of Christ.”
