Brendan Baran grew up in Alexandria, Virginia as the oldest of four children.  He received his bachelor’s degree from Brown University and a masters degree from Teachers College of Columbia University.  He spent more than a decade as an educator in secondary schools in Florida, Connecticut, and Virginia.  Having moved frequently, he has been involved in many parishes, but most actively at Blessed Sacrament in Alexandria, VA.  He first met the Dominicans through the campus ministry while in graduate school, and reconnected through the House of Studies while living in the DC area.  “Words of specific preachers have helped bring me closer to God; as a Dominican friar I also hope to pass on the gift of the Word.”
