Fr. Innocent Smith was born in California and raised in South Bend, Indiana, where his family attended Sacred Heart Parish. Br. Innocent studied music and philosophy at the University of Notre Dame. After graduating from Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Arts, Br. Innocent entered the novitiate for the Province of St. Joseph. “When I first encountered the Dominican friars, I was attracted to their synthesis of prayer, study, and apostolic preaching.
