Fr. Luke VanBerkum hails from outside of Detroit, Michigan, where he attended St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church with his family. He is the second of seven children. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame in Philosophy and Theology. While in college, Fr. Luke was attracted to the Order because of its rich heritage of contemplation and preaching. “I wanted to live a life completely devoted to Jesus Christ and the salvation of souls. I found that the Dominican Order, through study, prayer, fraternity, and preaching, offered the most beautiful and transformative way to live with Him.”
