Honoring the Immaculate Conception of Our Lady

Honoring the Immaculate Conception of Our Lady

In 1846, the bishops of the United States unanimously proclaimed the Blessed Virgin Mary as the patroness of the United States. For this honor, they entrusted the country to her under the title “the Immaculate Conception.”

Today especially, we ask for Mary’s intercession on behalf of our country. Her patronage of the United States encourages us to follow her humble example of faithfulness, especially as in Advent we await our Savior’s birth. We pray that as a nation we will learn to imitate her purity, hope, and love of Christ.

Our Lady, the Immaculate Virgin, patroness of the United States of America, pray for us!
