Welcome to the new magazine of the Dominican Friars Province of St. Joseph!

Welcome to Preadicare, a magazine for the friends of the Dominican Friars of the Province of St. Joseph. The word praedicare comes from the Latin motto of the Dominican Order—to praise, to bless, to preach—a fitting description of Dominican life and mission. In fact, the early constitution of the Order of Preachers refers to each Dominican community as a “holy preaching.” And to live as a Dominican friar is, simply put, “to preach.” Our hope is that you are abundantly blessed by the fruits of our contemplation in the pages of Praedicare.

If Praedicare feeds your soul or helps you draw closer to Christ, we’d be grateful if you’d consider supporting it. This magazine isn’t just something we publish—it’s part of our preaching. Through it, we hope to form minds, nourish hearts, and offer a glimpse into the richness of Dominican life. With your help, we can share that gift with many more. Thank you for being part of our work.

We’re excited to share with you the very first issue of Praedicare. The articles below offer glimpses into the life and mission of the Dominican Friars—from the beauty of our traditions to the ways we’re preaching Christ in today’s world. We hope you’ll take a few minutes to read, reflect, and be nourished by what you find here.
