Dominican Parishes
For over 200 years, the Dominican Friars of the Province of St. Joseph have served in parish ministry, and we continue to provide for the care of souls in 18 parishes. The parishes served by Dominican friars have a distinct character that flows from our charism. These Dominican parish communities serve as powerful sources of spiritual vitality that build up the wider diocesan community and promote a solid knowledge of the faith and zeal for the salvation of souls.
OUR PARISHES
Holy Preaching and Sound Teaching
The Dominican passion for the saving truth of Jesus Christ animates the life of the parish such that every activity is ordered toward drawing men and women to know and to love God.
The Dominican charism of preaching for the salvation of souls is manifested not only in the homilies of the friars but also the quality catechesis, sacramental preparation, OCIA instruction, and adult faith formation offered in Dominican parishes.

OUR PARISHES
Reverent Liturgy and Sacramental Abundance
Dominican friars live a rich liturgical life in our communities. This life overflows into the way that we celebrate the Mass and the other sacraments. Since Dominican parishes are usually served by several Dominican friars full-time and additional friars who live in the community, our parishes often serve as “confession hubs” in the cities where they are located. Additionally, our parishes provide solid baptism and marriage preparation, by which we serve families during key moments in their lives.
OUR PARISHES
Fraternity and Evangelical Zeal
The community life of the Dominican friars gives a distinctive fraternal character to the life of our Dominican parishes. Every Dominican friar, while sharing in our common charism, nonetheless brings something unique to his ministry. In our communities and in our parishes we experience the life-giving truth expressed by St. Paul: “a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ” (1 Cor 12:12).
The zeal for the salvation of souls that characterizes the Order of Preachers also forms our parishioners. They learn to be missionary disciples who are equipped with a solid knowledge of the faith and a strong desire to share the love of God with others.
